The secret of this wall lamp lies in the balance achieved between apparently 'imbalanced' parts: the arm that holds the light source is connected to a steel frame and kept straight, despite its length (190 cm) and the weight of the head, thanks to a counterbalance regulated by a toothed wheel system which holds the arm in position and at the same time allows it to move. The toothed wheel system, made from techno-polymer, allows the lamp to make fluid movements: the arm (and consequently the light source) moves at every point along its axis, even reaching extreme positions and managing to intersect the counterbalance. The light source also rotates, thus giving the possibility of obtaining indirect light, in infinite configurations. The use of a LED source which can be connected directly to the domestic network avoids using a low voltage transformer. Presented as a concept in 2011 and developed in 2012, Counterbalance is the first product developed for Luceplan by Daniel Rybakken, a young Norwegian talent.
