Dedar, acronym for "design d'arredamento" (furniture design), was founded in 1976; it is based near to Como, at the heart of a district that has for centuries specilaised in the production of fine fabrics, particularly silks. This creates the opportunity to experiement, to innovate and to perfect, in constant dialogue with the local craftsmen and fabric specialists who know in-depth the best techniques for producing excellent fabrics. Traditional techniques can be found in the Dedar collection, like jacquard, which draws new strength from expensive patterns and rich and intense colour ranges. An interesting example is Wow: a jacquard velvet which alternates cut velvet, crushed velvet and the cotton cloth base. The motif is the Japanese "matsukawabishi", literally "pine bark". Daring and bright in the colour range, it is available in six shades. The fabric is 140 cm high and is made from 55% viscose and 45% cotton. The motif is repeated every 11.5 cm, vertically and horizontally. Wow lends itself to being used as curtains and for upholstering seat cushions subjected to average/ intense use.
