Relief is the key element of the Biscuit collection, designed by Studio Job for Royal Tichelaar Makkum, pottery active since 1572. It is produced in series, but hand crafted, thanks to restoration of an old press that gives deeper and more clear-cut relief than that obtainable with modern-day ceramic equipment. Once the right clay had been found, nine plates and five objects (cases, boxes, candlesticks, lanters) were created in white bisque procelain. the relief designs, for the plates applied to back and front, are inspired by the world of fables and combine grotesque and allegorical elements.
