The ELLE DECO International Design Awards (EDIDA) is often compared to the “Oscars” of the design world. The 14th annual awards ceremony was celebrated once again during the Salone del Mobile, the world’s largest interior design exhibition, held in Milan each year.
Hosted at the inspiring Teatro Franco Parenti, designed by Michele de Lucchi, EDIDA’s acclaim comes from its recognition of the achievements of the world’s top designers and design companies. EDIDA guests were in the presence of major figureheads of the international design community.
Winners for 2016 were announced across 13 categories, including Jo Wilton and Mirka Grohn, from &New, who were awarded "Young Design Talent of the Year".
Jaime Hayon was presented with "Designer of the Year" selected by the editors-in-chief of all 25 ELLE DECORATION editions globally who gathered in Milan for the occasion.
Movement through threads and light was the theme for the evening and dancers enchanted the audience as they intertwined between ribbons and silks. After the ceremony, the winners and guests were invited to celebrate with a cocktail party in the grand theatre reception, hosted by the French champagne house, Veuve Clicquot.
