The Medoc florring is formed by trapezoidal oak planks, whose "trunk" outline takes up the shape of old floorboards, "when planks were not straightened to avoid any waste". The flavour of the hand-crafted wood, a delight which Michele De Lucchi himself revels in, is found in the surface treatment of the planks, subjected to uneven saw cutting, from which a deliberately rough surface is created, refined with pigments and natural oils.
