Fancy a surprise? Go under the dome and look up: you will discover an unexpected stucco decoration, white, just as plaster should be, but painted to encourage light output. Marcel Wanders amazes us with wonder and irony which are never gratuitous, but tools by which he leads us to the heart of the project. Perhaps the plaster rosettes that hid the joints of chandeliers to the ceilings, often decorated with stucco and soft strokes of colour, were just that? A skygarden, condensed here into a hemisphere.
