The exhibition, held at the Ilmin Museum of Art in Seoul during December 2023 presented the projects of 20 artists, who each designed a living room with their unique artists’ gaze. The installations explored different themes from contemporary Korean culture to collaborations like ‘Puffer Hole’ from Moncler and artist Yeon Jin-Young. ELLE DECOR Korea created their own living room featuring a Fritz Hansen chair. Visitors could also purchase varying ELLE DECOR items and other artists’ collaboration goods at the giftshop.
The exhibition highlighted the living room as a public and private space that tells a story, expressing the owner’s habitus, the accumulation of social and cultural tastes from personal experiences. This provided the visitors with a question of, “What does a living room mean to you?”
Eun-Mi Chae, Editor-in-Chief of ELLE and ELLE DECOR Korea, also expressed her hopes that the exhibition is an opportunity to place Korean designers on the world stage and have a Korean designer win an EDIDA award.
