Biography
Roberto Lazzeroni has spent the majority of his life and career in Pisa. His career began as a result of his studies of Art and Architecture in Florence. From the beginning he has always shown an interest in the phenomena of both conceptual art and radical design.
In the early 80’s he turned to industrial and interior design, a focus which he defines as “fundamental” to approach the world of “industrial products”. Lazzeroni often uses the expression “sentimental design”, or “transitive design”, to describe his work. The signs of past are somehow recognizable; they are clearly worked out and the outcome is a real and balanced tension between past and future.
Lazzeroni’s background and his way to understand design have led to his specialization in art direction. He has been responsible for the birth and development of many firms including his work with Ceccotti Collezioni in 1988, and many others.
His very dynamic career with some precise constants exemplifies Roberto Lazzeroni two different directions: his studies and his professional interests have placed him in the center of many exhibitions, and his approach to design is absolutely integrated into the everyday reality of interior space.
