Biography
Jean-Charles de Castelbajac began his practice in 1968 with Ko and Co, developing early experiments with reclaimed materials that challenged established fashion systems. His work introduced new relationships between garment, image, and cultural reference, often drawing from childhood iconography, heraldry, and popular media.
Projects include collaborations with Miquel Barceló, Keith Haring, Cindy Sherman, and Malcolm McLaren, among others. Jean-Charles de Castelbajac served as Artistic Director of United Colors of Benetton from 2018 to 2022 and has maintained a long-term collaboration with Rossignol. His work extends into public commissions, installations, and institutional exhibitions presented internationally.
