About
Born in Leeds, George Snowden, one of the founding members of Memphis, moved to work in Milano in 1970. He opened his own design and product development studio, and in 2010 founded SOWDEN - his namesake brand. He has worked as a designer and product developer for many companies around the world, cultivating a personal interest in working with craftsmen and small industrial organisations, which together with his work related to pattern and decoration, goes back to the 1970s and continues today.
SowdenLight is the latest extension of the Sowden Design Studio, born in 2020 when George Sowden and his team were researching and developing new and innovative lighting ideas. Some of their on-going projects are very technical, but others like SHADES are more decorative. Emanating from research and working towards the definition of their own design idea, they develop the engineering, the organization of the production and distribution of their projects.
